Get it right, and consent becomes the control point that makes everything downstream easier to prove.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This guide breaks down what enterprise-grade consent management actually requires under DPDP, where most organisations are still running consent the old way, and what a connected consent architecture looks like in practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"why-consent-management-is-becoming-a-board-level-priority\"><b>Why Consent Management Is Becoming a Board-Level Priority<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Consent Manager framework under Rule 4 of the DPDP Rules becomes operational on <\/span><b>November 13, 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 the first hard deadline on the DPDP compliance calendar, well ahead of the full enforcement date of May 13, 2027. That sequencing isn&#8217;t accidental. When a regulator asks for the specific consent record tied to that data-sharing instance, there isn&#8217;t one \u2014 because the original consent was never purpose-linked at the field level. This is exactly the kind of gap that pushes an incident into the higher penalty bands, since it touches both consent and data-sharing obligations at once.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>E-commerce and retail.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A shopper accepts a single &#8220;Accept All&#8221; banner that quietly covers marketing emails, behavioural profiling for recommendations, and third-party ad sharing.
