Saanjh-DILASA is a joint initiative by Punjab Police Saanjh and Jupitice to promote peace in society. DILASA is an acronym for Dispute Intervention & Legal Awareness through Social Alliance. The initiative is a reformative step towards encouraging complainants to resolve their disputes out of court, amicably. The availability of the option to settle disputes is crucial for cases to be referred to the end-to-end ODR platform which is annexed to the police stations. Upon consent to this process, all involved parties can arrive at a settlement without having to visit the local courts.

What is Saanjh-DILASA?
Saanjh-DILASA is a joint initiative by Punjab Police Saanjh & Jupitice to promote peace in society. In a first-of-its-kind initiative, an exclusive ODR (Online Dispute Resolution) Platform, annexed to Police Stations, is set up to encourage complainants to settle their cases out of court. Cases pending at (i) the police station or at (ii) the pre-complaint stage, and those that are eligible under Saanjh-DILASA, can be filed on the Saanjh-DILASA Platform.

What is ODR?
Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) is a branch of dispute resolution which uses technology to facilitate the resolution of disputes between parties. Under the Saanjh-DILASA initiative, an exclusive ODR Platform, annexed to Police Stations, is set up to encourage complainants to settle their cases out of courts. Under this initiative, parties undergo mediation to settle their dispute. On successful mediation settlement, the parties also have the option to convert their settlement into a court-enforceable decree through Lok Adalat under the guidance of their case manager. On unsuccessful mediation settlement, the parties can either exit the ODR platform or go ahead with Arbitration on the platform to get a legally binding award.

Who is a Saanjh-DILASA Counsellor?
The Counsellor is your first point of contact who will listen to your complaint/case. They will, then, help you create an account, file a brief complaint, and will also reach out to the other party/parties to take their consent for Mediation.

Who is a Saanjh-DILASA Case Manager?
Saanjh-DILASA appoints an exclusive Case Manager for each case. They guide all involved parties and prepare the relevant documents required for the case. The Case Manager also assists the parties on the technical front and performs relevant tasks on the ODR Platform.

Can I change my Case Manager?
Yes, you can change your Case Manager at any stage of the process.

Is the settlement made on Saanjh-DILASA court enforceable?
The settlement made on Saanjh-DILASA can be made court-enforceable via Lok Adalat. This way, the Settlement Agreement will be legally binding.

What if the parties fail to reach a settlement via mediation?
In case the parties fail to reach a settlement via Mediation, they can opt for Arbitration as it’s a more detailed way to resolve the dispute. The Award made by the Arbitrator is final and legally binding.
